about

On a nice warm January night in the San Fernando Valley, Elliot, Randy and myself were all set up and ready to play The Relic House in Reseda, CA. The Relic House was a medium size club on Reseda Blvd about a half block south of Sherman Way. Our live gear we used that night was a full set of Tama Drums for Elliot. Randy had his Ampeg rig and I had 2 two 50 watt Marshall half stacks and a Ampeg VT-22 for my effects pedals. I tell you this because halfway into our first song to a packed house, the majority of the audience made a quick dash to the back exit which took you out onto the patio. This is why there is hardly any applause at the end of our songs. Part of the crowd we found out later, took shelter from the pure raw volume in the bathrooms. We definitely created a tad bit of volume, that's for sure. Enough to have knocked almost all of the bottles of booze off the shelves. Costly to use, but, what the fuck.
After the show had ended and we were taking down our equipment, people who had been outside and in the bathrooms stopped by to let us know how much they loved the show.
Oh, I don't want to forget the best part of that fantastic night. Randy by some odd chance brought a blank TDK SA-90 cassette tape with him so we could record the show with my stereo Boom Box Ghetto Blaster. Without those two essential items, that performance would only have been a memory, faded in time, like so many others we failed to record.

Assassin of Silence was hard edged live. Sometimes the volume exceeded the audiences level of db pressure. This night in Reseda,CA at The Relic House was tame compared to other shows. This mix puts you right in the front row seats. No tweaking, no gimmicks, no special studio effects, just the sound man.
